We left off with the long winded post ending in getting our pool. We did everything from taking trees down and laying paver stones, to putting up the pool to widening our driveway. If you haven't read that post yet, I suggest you read that first to get caught up with our next project. The winter came and went and spring was here, and my husband was ready for action. He had decided that we should take the window out of the spare bedroom and replace it with a door. This would be the door that would eventually lead out to the deck (That hasn't been built just yet), and lead right out to the pool. While I had to admit, this sounded like an awesome idea, it sounded like a lot of work and mess again. Off to Home Depot we went to purchase the door and he spent the rest of the weekend with my two Uncles installing a door. It turned out beautiful and I love it. After having the door in for a few weeks, I realized that it would have better to have a door with a screen in it, to let the breeze flow threw the house. So my hubby went out to the Home Building Centre in town, and purchased and installed a wood screen door on the outside for me to be able to open up on nice days! What an improvement! I was very impressed! Then came his next week of holidays. This fell early in the summer, and on the Monday, I came home to find a pile of wood had been delivered to our house and a pile was sitting on the side of the driveway. Oh dear, what was he up to on this week off? This time he decided to build a deck from the back of our house right out to the pool. It would be the same width as the whole house and out 12 feet to butt up directly to the pool. As soon as the weather turned to good and the sun came out he spent his weeks holidays and a few weekends after that building his project. I must admit, for not building a deck before, he did an incredible job. I was so please and proud of him! The next summer consisted of enjoying our deck and growing our grass back. Adam also decided to take our old small deck and stair case down, on our side door, and replace it with new deck boards and railing. The railing that matches with our back deck. This upgrade just brought it all together. It looks so amazing. This brings us to this summer. As most of you are aware, I work at a job that I was unable to be a during the covid 19 outbreak. I spent this time taking down the tree and flower garden in the back left corner and putting in grass seed and a flower bush. I carted up 22 bags of top soil and levelled out the yard under the brown maple tree and planted grass seed. This is all it took, to make our grass grow under the tree. It looks so good now that all the yard has grass. I repainted the shed out back and my husband buried the electrical lines that run from our pool to the shed for hydro. He finished off the deck by building some skirting around it and finishing the rails. He build me a clothes line and just recently we bought a pergola, and he assembled it with the help of his friend, and now that August is here, I think we are ready for relaxing. I hope you liked our journey with our back yard makeover. Although it took us a few years, now that it is almost complete, it feels like it was just done yesterday. I throughly enjoy spending lots of time out in my little oasis! If it's nice out, you will find me out there! Thank you for following along. Tell me what you think of the "almost" finished product!
Until next time Cheryl Ann xo
