Collective Haul

28/2/2018

Recently I purchased some good stuff and I wanted to share this haul with you. From books to beauty items, I got some really good stuff to show you.
Picture
I scored this Nail bracelet with cute crystals around the rim of the nail. It is a knock off of the higher price Cartier bracelet. I got mine in silver and I love the look of it. It's holding up really good!
Picture
I'm looking forward to a couple days of "down time" so I can sit down and ready this book by James Patterson. I have read one or two of his before and I'm hoping this one is just as good.
Picture
Keeping in the theme of books, I'm excited to read the book in which the series "Orange Is The New Black" is based on. I purchased this a while back and while I have kept up on all the seasons, I think it will be a great read and have a few differences from the Netflix show. I'll let you know.
Picture
I've watched a few youtube videos and read a few reviews of this Equate Brand Eye Make-up Remover from Walmart. Now it's suppose to be comparable to the Lancôme Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover. I'm hoping so as it is a $30.00 difference from one to the other.
Picture
I'm going to give this dry shampoo a go. Now my go to is the Batiste Dry Shampoo, and I have repurchased it several times, but I'm going to give this a whirl. It has a fresh scent, and seems light weight, but I will see how this holds up.
Picture
And Lastly, this super fine side cross necklace. I had a choice in gold, silver, rose gold or gun metal, and I chose gun metal.  I have a lot of gold and silver pieces and I thought gun metal would be a great addition to my necklace collection.
Picture
I love how small and delicate this necklace is. With two extending links on the chain, I know it will fit at just the right length on my neck.

Have you purchased anything lately? Or have you tried or read any of the above purchases? Let me know your thoughts!

Until next time

My Dog Received Her First Bark Box!

22/2/2018

Back before Christmas, we lost our 12 year old dog Buddy. We also have a 6 year old dog named Millie, which did not take his death well. She was lost for days. She cried a lot and was just not doing well.  I decided to purchase her a Bark Box in hopes that she cheer up. Bark Box is a monthly subscription box for dogs. You answer a few questions like size of your dog, any allergies the dog may have etc. I received my bark box back in December. The introduction offer cost me $14.00 USD, because I was a new customer. I did purchase the the deal that was going on at that time for an extra $5.00 to receive another toy. Millie LOVED it. Now, I will not be purchasing the added toy because I found that she just doesn't play with toys, so there is no way she needs more, but the treats are bang on!! She freakin LOVED THEM!! Here is her very first box.
Picture
She was so excited when I brought it in from the delivery service.
Picture
Picture
Picture
The box comes nicely wrapped with the cutest wrapping paper.
Picture
Picture
I couldn't believe how much came inside the box. It was full with fun stuffies and treats. Even Bruin the Cat had to get in and check out the goodies.
Picture
Here is what was all in her box.

Picture
So the Butcher's Block Bone was quite the thing. Thank goodness I READ the label as it did state that you should not have your dog chew the bone on carpet.  So I put an old comforter from my son when he was little, under her before I gave it to her to chew. But as she started chewing, there was red stain everywhere. I quickly grabbed it and tossed it outside for her to eat, as I just didn't want her to move somewhere to chew it and I not know.

Elvis didn't seem to happy about being left out............
Picture
Picture
Picture
Millie really enjoyed the above treats. They were a great snack size for her and they smelt good. I wish that you can customize the box and get more treats then toys. That would be a great feature.
Picture
This newspaper toy is everything.  She does play with it a bit, but the articles are hilarious!!
Picture
Picture
This toy confused me..... I know it's a ball of some sort, but really not sure what the hell it is.  It confused Millie as well, as she hasn't touched it.
Picture
This stuffed owl is Millie's favourite of the whole box (besides the treats of course). She loves playing with it. It is very well made and hasn't come apart yet. I'm super happy with workmanship of it. I was super surprised at how well it was made. I thought with the amount of toys in the box, that they would be not as good quality!

Millie has told me that she would love to receive this box again. Like I said, if I can structure the contents of the box to include more treats, less toys, then I will definitely be purchasing another month.  Have you purchased a animal subscription box?  What others are out there?  Let me know your thoughts!

Until next time

Empties!

20/2/2018

Wanna see what's in my garbage?  I'm here to do another empties!  These are an assortment of personal and household items! I will let you know my thoughts and whether I would repurchase or not.

Picture
As some of you might already know, I recently jumped on the Monat band wagon. I purchased a few products and I love them. This is the Shampoo I would normally would use.  I love this Dove Brand. The smell is great and the product works great as well. The only reason that I won't repurchase it is that like I previously said, I purchased the Monat Shampoo.
Picture
I used up this Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner. I probably will not repurchase it, as I felt it cleaned the same way any other cleaner did, but it was more on the pricier side. You can get just as good of a cleaner as this, but for a fraction of the cost.
Picture
I finished up this Secret deodorant, and it was not bad. I would repurchase this, if however, my normal brand Dove isn't available at that time. It did a great job, and it did smell nice. All in all, a great brand that works.
Picture
On one of my trips to my beloved Dollarama; I saw this tooth whitener. Sense it was a good deal, I purchased it. It works ok, IF you don't have to much surface stain already. I noticed a difference, however, my husband did not. He has a lot of deep surface staining, and it didn't make any difference to him. I however, did not like the taste and feel of this. I wasn't bad, but for me, I did not care for it. Will I repurchase it? Probably not. I feel for the amount of stain it got rid of, plus the added gross taste, I would be more apt to purchase a Crest White Strip system.  Now saying that, if the system itself is too pricey for you, then definitely I would say give this a whirl. Plus, if you can find it at a discount, like me, then go for it!
Picture
Check out this nasty!! This is the Monat conditioner. I love love this stuff. I can not say enough good things about it! You only need to use a little bit, so this tube lasted for quite a while! I have and will repurchase this conditioner again. If you have any questions regarding this brand, give me a shout. I will help you out!
Picture
I finished up this Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Exfoliating Scrub. I found this scrub not as abrasive as some of the exfoliating scrubs on the market. When I washed my face with it, it didn't drag or hurt. I really enjoyed this product and I have sense repurchased another tube. I got this one at Winners, so I was lucky to find it at a great price point, however, if you can not score it there, then I have only seen it on their website for sale, at a higher price.
Picture
The same day I went shopping at Dollarama, I also purchased the Crest 3D white toothpaste to go with the whitener. Again, this toothpaste was ok, but I do prefer the Colgate Optic White toothpaste.  I probably will not repurchase this brand, unless, again, mine brand is unavailable.
Picture
To go with my conditioner, here is my ghastly looking shampoo bottle. This is the Revive Shampoo. I don't have to tell you again that YES I love it and YES I would repurchase this.  I also purchased the Renew Shampoo to give it a try. I will let you know my thoughts on that one when I do my next empties!!
Picture
I purchased this Elf Liquid Eyeliner for the plum shade. I thought I would go with the less expensive eyeliner in plum as I wasn't sure if I would like the look of Plum eyeliner on me. I did like the way it looked, however, I found this brush hard to use. I also dried up fast and I wasn't stuck on the applicator brush. I won't repurchase this particular brand of plum eyeliner, but I definitely will purchase a plum liner!  Any suggestions?
Picture
Sticking with eye makeup, I finished up this Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. I had heard lots of great things about this mascara, however, for ME, I have used better or similar mascaras. I did not think that this mascara stood out as one of the best mascaras. Because it is a higher end brand, you are gonna pay a higher price.  I definitely think that you can find a drugstore mascara that will do the same application, if not better!
Picture
I finished this Billion Dollar Brow Brow Gel. It was ok, again I would say why pay a higher price when you can get a similar if not better brand at the drug store. I will not repurchase this one.
Picture
I have one more eye makeup piece of trash, it is the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. I freakin LOVED this. It applied like a dream and didn't run or smudge. The applicator was easy to use whether you just wanted a thin line or a cat eye. I would repurchase this in a flash, but for right now, I wanted to try the Kat Von D tattoo liner. My thoughts on it when it becomes my trash ;)
Picture
And last, but certainly not least, is my beloved Seche Vive top coat. This is my jam. I love this and will definitely repurchase it. I have, however purchased an Essie Top Coat for the time being. If you are looking for a great top coat, purchase the Seche Vive... you won't be wrong.

This is a look into my trash with my empties.  What's in yours?  Have you used any of these products?  What are your thoughts?  Let me know if you have anything that you think I should try.

Until Next time

Last Minute Val(Gal)entine's Day Shopping

14/2/2018

Are you like me and tend to do things last minute? Looking for something for Valentines can be a tough one, especially if its last minute. Plus, I don't like roses. I would be very angry if my husband spent that much on roses (or flowers) and have them last only a few days.  So I like give gifts that aren't flowers. And because I'm SO last minute, I have put together this list of ideas that can be purchased last minute. So if you're looking for some quick and thoughtful ideas, read on!!
Picture
Chocolate is definitely first on my list. As I say; "Chocolate will soothe the soul" or maybe add to your thighs, but whichever you believe in, chocolate is a good go to! And because it's Valentine's Day, you can find it at most convenience stores, grocery stores, and places like Walmart that are open late, if you have to shop after work.  Grab a card and a quick gift bag, and start filling! The Sweet tooth addict will be in heaven.
Picture
What about grabbing some take out?  Now I'm not talking about McDonald's or anything like that, but what about something different like Chinese, Boston pizza or Crabby Joe's? Splurge a little and grab some take out..... just don't forget to do the dishes afterwards....;)

Let's say your stopping at Walmart or Shoppers Drug Mart to pick up that card and chocolate, why not go all out on a beauty gift.  Try picking up some perfume and maybe some makeup and of course; don't forget to grab nail polish too..  Now don't go just picking up just any kind of perfume, just because Britney Spears is on it..... Here are some great items you can pick up at Shoppers Drug Mart.  Perfume wise grab some Burberry, Coach, Dior, Estée Lauder or Elizabeth Arden. Not that the Britney perfume is bad, just that the higher price point perfumes, for me, tend to have better notes in them, making them a bit more tolerable. Sometimes fragrance, for me, gives me a headache, and I have noticed that higher end ones, MOSTLY don't tend to effect me. Now saying that, there are some that do, but just take my advice and pay the extra for the high end. Not only will it smell great, but your valentine will think you took the time to look into the "popular" ones.

Makeup can be tricky, so go with something that most women will wear. Mascara, lip stick, lip gloss etc. Don't purchase the lip chaps that taste like candy... go for a more "grown up" item. Some choices you can go with are: Benefit, Clinique, Shiseido, and Chanel.

Lastly, skin care.... every women, even men, love a good "me day". Since the last bit of items I chose were from Shoppers Drug Mart, I'm gonna stay there. Here are some ideas that will knock their socks off.  I suggest one or two of these: Philosophy, Korres, Lancôme, Avène, and StriVectin. Any of these next products will be an awesome gift.

I hope some of these items will give you some ideas of what to give for Valentine's Day. Both Men and Women will love some of these options. What are you giving for Valentine's Day? What are you hoping for? I'm hoping everyone has a great LoVe day with whatever you do and give!

Until next time,

If I had a million dollars!

8/2/2018

Have you ever thought about winning a million dollars and what you would do with it? Well I haven't really,,,,I mean I have used that old saying "Well if I had a million dollars, I'd buy that, or go there" but I haven't really ever truly thought about it.  Until Now.... I have seen this tag going around the web, and I wanted to do it too! Well, and also  I recently read  this book and also watched the movie The Secret! It states that if you put it (it being "thoughts") out into the universe, and use positive thinking and believe it can happen to you, it will!  WILL IT?? REALLY??? So I'm about to try.........
Picture
Well after alot of consideration and positive thoughts, I have come up with my list!! So Here you go Universe......

1.  Pay off all my debts......but isn't this the first thing everyone would do?

2.  A New Car .... Something expensive ..... oh and white!!

3.  A Pair of Charlotte Olympia kitty loafers.... yes for reals!! ;)

4.  A Housecleaner to come in every week and clean my toilets ..... oh heaven!

5.  A New Bed..... one of those sleep number ones that reclines etc..... something good to nap on

6. A Louis Vuitton Never Full in Medium.. ok large.... or a Speedy..... Ok anyone would be fine!

Of course this was a fun game to do and totally imaginary, however the idea of the positive attitude towards life is really a great idea.  Some of the most influential people of our time have used this positivity idea in their real life.  After reading a couple quotes, I got to thinking ......
Can this really work?  I know, I know.... the whole list thing if pretty selfish, but what if I used it for my everyday life.  Like if I think I'm gonna have a good day at work, I will! Or if I feel so happy and blessed, I will start to feel better about myself!  From someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, this can't hurt!  Why do they make all the self help books?  So yes I think I'm gonna start throwing positivity into the universe and see what, if anything comes back to me!!  I'm gonna leave you will a few quotes to think about....
Picture
Picture
So as I leave you with your thoughts and positivity for the universe, tell me what you would buy If you had that ever elusive million dollars..... What are your thoughts on Ask. Believe. Receive.?  Have you read The Secret Book?

Until Next Time...

Still Broke C.A.

P.S.......just in case the universe is listening; I've included pics....... ;)

Clean & Organize With Me The Konmari Way!!

8/2/2018

So I decided to clean my bedroom the other day....not that it was ALL that dirty but it definitely needed of some organization! Some sort of method to the madness! Well, as I sit here and write this, I am reading the book The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo.

Picture
So far I am really loving this book.....It has given me great guidance as to where to start and how to start my successful decluttering projects around the house.  I'm gonna be honest tho.....sometimes I find it very difficult to just get rid of things.  Some things I just plain want to keep, but they don't fit into the "keep" categories of the KonMari way......oooppps..... I guess what I'm trying to say, is I am doing it half assed, which I might add, is way better than not doing anything at all! So in that regards, I'm doing OK. Before I could start, there was just one item I was needing..
https://www.amazon.ca/Close-Up-T-Shirt-Folder-Folding/dp/B00F4I69JO/ref=as_sl_pc_qf_sp_asin_til?tag=cherylannw88-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=dca256285d229fdd31a4e922bfd35ea7&creativeASIN=B00F4I69JO
The T-Shirt Folding Board is an awesome investment. I never thought I would love it or use it as much as I did, but it is totally my companion when doing the laundry.

I had previously purchased all the hangers from Winners, so I assumed that since I was going to get rid of alot of my unused clothing items, I would already have enough hangers at home, and wouldn't need to purchase more.  I was all set! Book in hand for inspiration, I was ready to conquer the mess that was my bedroom! Here are some before pictures!
So I pulled out all my clothes from the closets and dressers and threw them in a rather large pile on my bed, and the work began......

4 hours later, 1 meal, 2 Cans of Coke (If I'm still keeping it honest)and 6 episodes of Sex and the City later and it was complete!! 4 black garbage bags full of clothes to donate and 1 bag to garbage, wow I can hardly believe it! How in the hell did we have so much stuff???  I am so glad I did this to my bedroom closet and dressers. It really does make you feel like so much weight off your shoulders!! I would highly recommend this method to everyone!  Although I have not yet finished the book, I do recommend it.  I am so excited to finish the book and carry on with the rest of the rooms in my home.  Now for the big reveal.....

Ladies and Gentlemen......I would like to show you my finished product!!
Doesn't it look great, and Spacious!! So much room now.....so coordinated and organized! I love it! As someone who struggles with anxiety, this makes my heart and head happy!!  Please do read this book and try out the life skills in it!! Click on the link below to get yours today and start your tidying today!!!

Until Next Time...

SO SORRY IT'S BEEN AWHILE.............

8/2/2018

Well here I am again......Saying SORRY once more for the absence. Things were rather tough the last couple months.  I am once again starting to feel myself, and I'm ready to talk about it!  So grab some tea and of course cookies and let me tell you where I have been and my journey back and what it is I have learnt in the process.

So as some of you are aware, I suffer from Anxiety and Depression.....mostly Anxiety, but if left too long, it will manifest itself into a depressive state.  Stressful situations set off my anxiety, as does most people's, but since I do have the panic attacks and anxiety problem already, if I don't get it under control, it.. well quite frankly.... becomes a "shit storm".  I'm not going to sit here and blame just one particular situation, or blame anyone specifically, but a combination of events led me down a big dark hole...and then finally at the end of July, I felt as though I was sinking still and I just couldn't get to the top. It is an awful feeling, like you're drowning, and you just can't keep your head out of water... I had booked a couple of doctors appointments, but then felt to guilty to go to them and "miss work", so I cancelled them.  The cycle just kept spiralling along, with no end in sight.  Finally, one weekend, I didn't get out of bed much at all, and just to let you know it was a GORGEOUS weekend, and looking back I should have been taking full advantage of my warm pool in our backyard.  I hit bottom, I was sad, mad, confused, achy, headachy, tired, but most of all did in. I really needed some help.   The Monday was a Stat Holiday, so I was thankful for one more day. "Get up, Get moving, Get your shit together" I kept saying to myself.  Finally Tuesday came and I hadn't slept a wink the night before, instead, I had gone over and over it in my mind.... "You HAVE GOT to go see your Doctor", "NO MORE waiting".  I had talked myself into calling first thing in the morning.  And that is exactly what I did.

The answer on the other end was simple, get here today, He will see you at 1:30.  But how am I going to make this work, how am I going to tell work, who is going to cover me at work, what if my doctor thinks I'm crazy, what if my husband gets mad.,,,,,, these words going round and round and round in my head. ALL the way to work.  I didn't say a word. I held my stomach, it was in knots.  I feared to open my mouth to say something, for one the ridicule that I had in my mind my husband would say, and Two, for fear of getting sick to my stomach.  I was so sore and tired and couldn't shut my brain off.... my hands and feet twitched the whole way.  Finally calming myself, I arrived at work, and with one big deep breath, I faced my fear and said to my boss, "I have not been feeling well, Doctor wants to see me this afternoon".  There I said it, it was out......It was like someone had punched me in the stomach.  It was so hard to admit it. But for some reason, deep, deep down in my soul, I just knew I had to.

The drive back to my town for my afternoon appointment was not any better.  I felt like death, shaking, stomach aching, I had a headache that felt like one wrong move and my brain was going to explode...... what if I'm going crazy?? Is this how it feels??  Why can't I breath properly?? Am I having a heart attack??  Why am I so sick and achy?? Do I have Cancer??  Am I dying??  Around and around my head these questions kept lurking and rearing their ugly head.  Next thing I know, I am at the reception desk stating I was here for my appointment!  How the hell did I get here?  I don't remember a thing, I can't remember my drive, did I hit someone?  What if I hit someone or something??  What the hell is happening to me??

The wait for the Doctor seemed like eternity, but sadly it was really 4 mins.... I twisted and turned, and dry heved. Then he opened the door, and with that " Hello Cheryl, I see you finally made it in to see me, I have been noticing you were booked in, but Cancelled?" And with those words, My whole life changed!

It was like someone turned on the water tap. The only words that I can describe it was everything came out all at once. I shook and cried and hyperventilated.  For reals, it was a break down, a full fledged mental let go!! Your needing some time, you're off work, you need to help yourself out......

So Now it's been until October until I'm able to express my feelings, and let you know just exactly what has been keeping me away.... I just needed some alone time, some mental clarity etc... but I'll be back!!

Fast forward to November 27th... I've finished my sick leave and have resigned from my position at my work.  I'm able to now function clearly, happily, and am now able to enjoy life! I am not sitting down to finish off my time away story, and will think about doing another soon.... For now I'm living the Stay at Home Wife Life and the Simple Life! It's clearly working for me.... will I know how long?  Not sure, but I am back to writing and that's all that matters!

I have some great posts coming soon... Just in time for the gift giving season!

Stay Tuned!!!

Here's a little post that I started before falling ill.  Make your home look and feel great with simple little details...

I have a few items in my home that I find very important to me.  Whether your items are large, or small, old or new, these things should hold some special memories to you.  Mix those in with a little bit or decor updates, and your home should always keep you smiling!

Here are a few of mine .......

Happy New Year

Well another year has come and gone! And what can I say.... It was an okay year.  There were so much needed changes and some growth for myself.... Unfortunately some of these came later in the year, so I didn't get the full year for them to sink in. As for my year's resolutions, well let's just say they blew up in my face faster than I could say "New Year's Resolutions".... I feel off the wagon HARD.

This year, however, I have decided to do something a little different. Instead of making my resolutions, I'm making "My Goals"  That's right, this year, I'm gonna mix it up and instead of making them something I have to do, I am going to set goals for myself and they will be something I want to conquer.  AND..... unlike the last few years, I am going to make them obtainable! Not throw out a bunch of huge high expectations, that quite frankly, I knew I would never be able to live up to, but small, easier ones (but not of any less importance) that I can crush!! :)

What are these awesome goals you may ask?  Well I have only 3!! Yes, that's what you read, 3!

1)    I'm focused on losing 20 pounds! Yes only 20 pounds.... I know I need to lose more, but if I start small, then maybe I might be pleasantly surprised halfway through the year if I'm over this goal weight loss, instead of setting a high number and halfway through the year feel defeated when I haven't met it yet.

2)     Spend more productive time on my blog.  Writing is something that I enjoy and I have always loved to blog, it just seems that with everything that went on last year, I sort of pushed my blog to the side and left it for dead.  This year, I'm devoting more time to it.  I have set a goal that i want to AT LEAST post 2 blog posts per week! One starting on New Years Day to start the year off right! 2 blog posts a week is definitely possible and hey if I end up writing more, I'll be pleasantly pleased with myself.

And finally.......

3)       Walk my dog every day!  Yes that's going to be one of my goals.  Last year we lost our oldest dog, and this year, I want to be able to spend more time with Millie! She loves to get out and walk, she is such a good walker, and with our eldest puppy Buddy having such bad arthritis and hardly being able to walk, it just wasn't fair to him to only take Millie out and not him.  This year, it is a bit easier, now that Millie is the only one, so I am devoting an hour to walking her.  For her health and Mine!!
Do you make New Years Resolutions?  Or do you set New Year Goals?  What are yours?

Until Next time.....
