Clean Up Your Kicks!

Today I'm doing a post to showcase a product I purchased at the Dollarama!  The Double Easy Eraser is their take on the Mr Clean Magic Eraser. I decided to try these out as they are half the price of the Name Brand kind, so I decided to clean up a pair of my old kicks!

These Nike's were looking a little less for wear, as they say, so It was time to clean them up! If you know me, you know I LOVE my sneakers! I have sneakers in every shape and sizes and colours. These babies just needed some love to make them look like new! I used warm water and mild dish soap to clean the green fabric on these, then I broke out the Easy Eraser to tackle; the rubber on these.

Can you believe the cat hair on these?  And yes, they are sporting some Dale Earnhardt Jr shoe laces! Gosh these babies are at least 15 years old! I think that the laces add some style! Who is all in for bringing back the shoe laces with writing and pictures on them! ME ME!

They are very similar looking to the Mr Clean brand, but as you can see they are only $1.25 per package of 2!  FYI, this gets messy as all get out, so be sure to do this somewhere that has water and a good clean up area. I did it by the kitchen sink! I first dabbed the eraser in the water and using a corner at a time, I started scrubbing the rubber of the shoes. With a little elbow grease, these kicks came so clean!

So here's a little before and after...
And here is the outcome of the erasers
I wore this eraser right out! I then decided since they were fresh and clean, that they needed new insoles! I purchased these at Walmart here.

I placed them under the correct matched shoe and drew a line on them where to cut the insoles to size like this..

I then cut them round the line I drew and inserted the fresh pair in my shoes!

Here's a before and after of the insoles.
Again with the cat hair ......

And finally to get the whitest of white, I placed them out side to take advantage of the sunshine! My Mom always put out her whites in the sun to get them so white, so I did the same thing.

So the next time you look at your favourite pair of runners, and think they are looking rather "used" spend the $10.00 on some Erasers at Dollarama and Insoles at Walmart and BAM... good as new!  I can't wait to wear these again! They look almost new! (besides the cat hair)! Have you any tricks to cleaning your shoes?  Tell me your secrets!

Until next time
