We have this third bedroom in our home, that I have totally taken over. I put my antique large dresser that has a huge mirror on it, in there. I have my jewelry, makeup and all things Cheryl in there. We decided to put a small bed in there and make it a nice spare room for guests. I wanted something that screamed me, because I spend a lot of time in there. I get dressed in there, do my makeup in there, and put on my accessories on in there. Because I wanted it to stay "girlie", we decided on a white day bed for in there. I found one similar to mine here.
I needed a comfortable mattress and I had heard a lot about the Bloom Mattresses. We decided to take the trip to Sleep Country to check them out. After taking the time to lay in a few different models, we chose the Cloud. It was very soft and yet firm enough for a good sleep. I loved that it came in a box, and was so compact that we could throw it in our vehicle and take it home with us. Once you open the box and take the actual mattress out of the bag, it plumps up to its intended size. Very Cool!
Next it was time to decide on a colour. The rest of my home is the same shade of off white throughout, however, I wanted this room to scream me! LILAC PURPLE!! Yep that's the shade I chose. I LOVE purple and it just made sense that my "girlie" room be my favourite shade! The room was painted a grey, so two coats of Purple Lace was needed for a good opaque coat. I also painted the trim to give it an updated look. I decided to leave one wall white, to go with my white furniture, however, it still felt like something was missing from it.
I had remembered seeing a post not too long before redoing my room that showed polka dots on it. I decided to do that on it! I ordered them from a co-worker of my husbands, and had my husband put them up for me. We decided that that would be my valentine's present as I didn't realize just how much time and effort it would be into putting them up on the wall.
My husband had to measure the wall then measure each distance from the polka dots to make sure that the wall looked even and the dots looked spaced out correctly. Oopsy! That's the second time I have chosen a project, that I thought would be easy and it was actually a ton of work.
Here are random pictures of some items throughout my room. As you can see, it's totally a girlie feel. From nail polish on the wall and dresser, to lot's of jewellery and makeup.
Next, I just added my finishing touches, and BAM.. my room is complete! I LOVE it and spend as much time in there as possible! Plus, it has the best lighting of the entire house! I will probably grow tired of it, but until that time, I am happy to have a little slice of paradise to call my own.
as you can see, it's a bloody mess! Stuff has been thrown in there, and needs to be cleaned out badly. We have purchased our laminate flooring for this room, so as soon as we are ready to lay it, I can go through it and get rid of things. Also I'm very "real" with you. It's a mess, so I want to show it a mess. I don't want to pretty things up and pretend! I'm human, I'm busy, and this space gets messy... go figure! My house is not always looking like it came out of a magazine! I would love that, but it's not so!
Until next time
