A while back I was given the New Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect Top Coat to try out and review. I had heard of this, but had never purchased it to try out. And of course I was interested in it as you know my love for my beloved Seche Vite top coat. So basically the idea of this top coat is that it is fast drying, but also adds the plump looking effect of a gel polish to your regular nail polish. With this top coat, there is no need for a uv light, it is formulated to fuse with natural light. Well sign me up! I'm gonna test this baby out. So I chose to go with "stickey" base coat by CND and Essie's Find Me An Oasis nail polish to bring these battered nails to life. Here is my results.... So just a couple things.... These were not the "neatest" polish job I did in my life, but they will do for this post. Also these pictures were taken on my Iphone 6s. My son and my husband were my photographers for these shots, and neither of them know how to use my camera......yet ;) As you can see in this photo, Essie's Find Me An Oasis is a soft blue pastel shade. So this is Day 1. Not showing much in this picture, but you can see the top coat is freshly painted on. Does it look any different from the regular top coat? Not much. If I didn't know any better, I felt that it just looked liked my normal Seche Vite top coat. Day 2 lookth like this....... you can see a bit of a chip out of the middle finger, and a bit of lifting at the edges of some of the other nails. Day 3 you can clearly see more chipping at the spots were there was lifting. So now before you ask, I am a certified Nail Technician and know how to cap the edges, so I know that was done! I do however, do a lot of dishes and house work per day, so my hands to get beat up a bunch. Day 4 Ok first let me explain the colour. I wore a new dress on this day. Usually, I first wash a item before I wear it, but on this day, I was in a bit of a rush. It is a beautiful red and black sweater dress that I recently purchased, and it not only died my nail polish a bit, but my skin too..... Aye Yai Yai!! What a complete mess...pink everything.... keep an eye out for a coming blog post on how to remove stains!! It's coming! Now clearly you can see more chipping on my nails.. Day 5 Clearly a disaster... need to remove day. So my thoughts,...... I didn't honestly see any difference from the Seche Vite to the Seche Vive. As far as the "Gel Polish look" I honestly don't think it resembled a honest gel polish look. I'm not sure any top coat can actually resemble it truly. The consistency of a gel polish is different from an actual nail laquer. Which is why the gel polish looks a bit "pillowy" and the top coat of a gel polish is "hardened" in the uv light which does make it more durable and shiny. So if your looking for this product to mimic a gel polish manicure, it, in my opinion, does not! But I will keep using it, as it is a good "POLISH" quick drying top coat.
Until next time, Cheryl

That's right..... it's that time of the year where you wear RED...... This year, we were lucky as Red is also one of the top colours to wear in fashion. Sadly, Red and Me aren't meant to be, even tho I can't wear red, I do sport that colour on my Nails!! Here are a few of my favourite shades of Red Nail polish. The first three that I have decided to show you are: Sally Hansen Sonic Boom, Sally Hansen Racey Rouge and Deborah Lippmann It's Raining Men. As you can see in the below picture, I went from the pinkish reds to the reddest of reds. The one on my pointer finger, is one of my all time favourite reds, which is Deborah Lippmann My Old Flame. My next choices of reds include these.. Essie's Fifth Avenue, Essie's Double Breasted Jacket, and Essie's Haute in the Heat. Now we aren't hating on my nails and my painting job are we? Two Reds that have been in my collection for a very long time are Essie's Dress To Kilt, and Jump In My Jumpsuit....these are the epitome of Christmas Reds!! Although, very very close in shade match. And while you are at it, invest in Deborah Lippmann's Lady Is A Tramp.... You absolutely NEED these three ... Once again ... NO HATE... I didn't do a great job at painting in between the lines, Did I? Next is three beauties.... last but not least.... OPI's Big Apple Red, China Glaze's High Roller, and Deborah Lippmann's Just Walk Away Renee... More Reds from my collection.... These pictures show Deborah Lippmann's Lady Is A Tramp on my pointer finger, OPI next, China Glaze on my ring finger, and just because I can, I threw in that Deborah Lippmann's Just Walk Away Renee.... Cause even though It's more of a wine colour, I freakin love it for the holidays!!
What are your go to shades and colours of Reds? Which polishes do you own in your collection? Until Next Time... All The Best and Happy Holidays from ME...... Since I change up my nail polish on the regular, I decided to do a Top Coat Challange to see which Top Coat stood up the the test of time on my nails. I rummaged through my collection and grabbed a couple that stood out. The top coats I chose are as follows: 1) China Glaze Fast Forward top coat 2) Orly In A Snap 3) Glisten & Glo HK Girl (Indie Brand) 4) Cover Girl Boundless Colour 5) Orly Won't Chip Protective Polymer Shield 6) Seche Vite I grabbed the closest bottle of nail polish, Essie's Boom Boom Room bright pink and painted my nails. I painted one finger with one top coat in the order above. Here are my results. This is day one. Day One Day Two Day Three Day Four So just a disclaimer here, these did not have a base coat on them. Also, yes they are the same nails, just taken with 2 different cameras. So as you can clearly see, the last two nails held up the most. They are the Orly Won't Chip and the Seche Vite... which as a matter of fact.... are my two of my favorite top coats. And just because I'm me..... I decided to do another round, with yet another brand of nail polish and adding some different top coats. This time I decided to use Orly's polish in the shade Jealous Much. I also decided to use a base coat. I used Orly Bonder for my base coat. This time I used the following top coats: 1) Sally Hansen No Chips Top Coat 2) Essie's No Chips Ahead 3) Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat 4) Seche Vite Top Coat 5) Orly In a Snap Top Coat! And for reference.... I have shown them in a picture up above, in the order they were used! This is how they fared...... Day Two Day Two Day Three Day Four After doing this round, I tossed my Seche Vite out and replaced it with a new one. Just a note.... my Seche Vite was very very stringy...so it was ready to be tossed! I did notice A BIG difference in chipping when I USED the base coat???? But these are my clear findings.
Do you use a base coat?? What top coat is your favourite? Let me know some of your choices!! Until Next Time Cheryl |
