Although Essie's Serene Slate Collection is a few months old now, I wanted to showcase it, as it is that time of year when greys are all the rage. This collection is a range from light greys to darkest greys. These shades have a blue undertone, and are going to be part of their permanent collection, which is why I am able to post this a bit later in the year. Of course, with all Essie polishes, it applies so perfect with a thick coat. The application brush is wide and able to coat your nails in 2 swipes. On each of the pictures, I don't have any top coat on them, as to not change the original shade. Let's take a look!
"Mindful Mediation" is described as everything from a light beige blush, to a beige creme. It requires a couple coats to reach it's full opaqueness.
"Toned Down" is a blueish grey shade and is described as smokey blue to pebbled grey. I absolutely love this shade. I wear it all the time. It's so pretty .
The next shade is named "Generation Zen" and it's shade is described as a smokey mauve, eggplant shade. This colour is extremely generous in opacity.
"On Mute" is the next shade up in the collection. This shade is described as a dark slate grey to a charcoal grey, so it has a bit of a brown look to it.
The next shade in the collection is the collection's name sake, "Serene Slate". This is described as a calming grey with a grey nuance. I just call it a simple grey.
And finally, the last one in the 6 colour collection is called "Gadget Free". This shade is a gunmetal grey metallic. If you like shiny nail polish, then this one is for you.
All in all, a nice collection of different tones of greys. If you are in the market for a new grey shade, I would highly suggest looking up some of these Essie grey polishes. Is grey a shade that you wear in the fall and winter months? Do you have a favourite grey polish? You can find the shades here...
Until next time
